Accessibility
This one we can write honestly now, because it describes how the site was built rather than a policy someone has to decide.
What we aim for
WCAG 2.2 level AA across every page, including the date picker, the photo gallery and the booking panel, the three places accessibility usually fails on a rental site.
What that means in practice
- Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus ring.
- The gallery lightbox traps focus, closes on Escape, and returns focus to the thumbnail that opened it.
- Unavailable and restricted dates are marked by pattern and text, never by colour alone, and each day’s rule is in its accessible name.
- Availability results, price changes and form errors are announced to screen readers.
- Photographs carry real alternative text, drawn from the image caption.
- Text meets 4.5:1 contrast, and layouts hold together at 200% zoom.
- Animation is limited, and respects a reduced-motion preference.
- Touch targets are at least 44 pixels.
Physical accessibility of the houses
Separate from the website: step-free entry, ground-floor bedrooms, bathroom access and the path to the water are stated on each property page.
Where a house is not accessible, we say so plainly rather than leaving it blank. Where we have not verified it yet, we say that instead of guessing.
